Asharistan (/ɑːʃɑːristæn/ Speaker Icon; Kurdish: ئشئـستان Aşařestan [ɑ:'ʃɑ:rɛstɑ:n]; Persian: اشهرستان Azārestan [ɑ:'zɑ:rɛstɑ:n]) officially the Imperial State of Asharestan (Kurdish: شانشینی ئشئـستان Șanşînî Aşařestan; Persian: شاهنشاهی اشهرستان Shāhanshāhi-ye Azārestan) is a sovereign state in northern insertnamehere. It is a insertnamehere country and is bordered by Naseristan to the west, insertnamehere to the south, Sudin to the east, and Qurac across the Gulf of insertnamehere.

The name Asharistan (Kurdish: ئشئـستان ; Persian: اشهرستان) is the westernised form of the indigenous name Aşařestan. It was chosen by the Encûmana Ûlemayê and adopted in XXXX as part of the new empire's foundation under Suleiman Padishah. The direct translation is "land of the exchangers", but in context is more accurately translated as "land of those who trade the mortal life for that of service to God". It is formed by the Persian word Aşařaz, or "exchange", and the suffix -stan which means "land of". Aşařaz is derived from verses in the Quran, Bible, and Nivîsara that discuss committing one's life to God.

Historically, Asharistan was known by a number of indigenous and foreign names.

Government and politicsEdit

Asharistan is a semi-federal constitutional monarchy governed by a unique form of parliamentary democracy known as confessionalism. The Shahanshah serves as head of state and commander in chief with wide executive and legislative authority. These powers are traditionally not exercised however, and are instead invested in the Prime Minister who is elected by Parliament. The Prime Minister serves as head of government and is responsible for appointing the Cabinet.

The Parliament of Asharistan consists of two chambers. The upper House of Elders consists of elected representatives from each of the national regions and tribal agencies and XX technocrats appointed by the Shahanshah. The lower House of Representatives consists of an equal number of elected representatives from each of Asharistan's main faith groups: Muslims, Yazidis, and Christians. Reserved seating is employed for minorities and women within these blocs and proportionally raises the number of seats for the other two blocs depending on the faith of the minority or representative.

Two additional bodies hold the power to review legislation and refer it back to the House of Representatives. The Council of the Wise is the supreme religious advisory body of Asharistan and consists of the elected representatives or hereditary heads of every faith and sect in Asharistan. It issues decrees and guidance for each of the religious communities in the empire and determines whether legislation complies with religious doctrine. The Council of State consists of various kings, chieftains, sheikhs, and governors, and forms the nucleus of the imperial court. The Council advises the Shahanshah and Parliament and reviews bills in the interest of their tribes or states.
